It started to flurry early in the afternoon, and within a few hours there were huge white flakes swirling through the air. To everyone's surprise I think, the flakes started to lay and eventually accumulate to a few inches in a couple of hours. For a city that is not used to snow, things were definitely pretty chaotic especially since the worse part of the storm was right around the time everyone was trying to head home. Trains and buses were stopped, and those who braved the drive home were stuck in their cars for hours.

I have missed snow so much with the mild winters here, that I was beyond excited when I saw the first flakes start to land. I eventually bundled up Jacques in his snowsuit and we ventured out on our terrace to take advantage of our little white wonderland.
Jack doesn't know what to think about all the wet stuff flying around him...

Jack seemed to have had a bit of fun at first, but when the wind picked up and his face started to get covered in snowflakes, it was time for us to head in.

That night Alexis, Jack and I took a walk around our neighborhood and we were so amazed by what a ghosttown it had become. There was nobody on the streets...which is saying a lot since it is normally packed with people (picture 5th Avenue at christmas time...), especially at night...and all the stores were empty. At least there were a few kids (...and adults!) with their arms loaded up with snowballs getting ready for the real fun to begin.
And today...the sun has returned and it all has melted away... I guess it's officially time for Spring.
