After a quick Christmas celebration in Belgium, Alexis, Jack and I were off to snowy Switzerland to enjoy a week in the crisp mountain air with the de Kerchove family. Alexis finally got to hit the ski slopes after a very long hiatus, I strapped on some snowshoes to enjoy the mountains but at a slightly slower pace (for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to strap on the skies this year...), and even Jack got involved in the spirit of winter sports. We definitely had a wonderful week with unseasonably warm temperatures...(i.e., we could stay outside for more than an hour or two without risk of frostbite)...and are looking forward to visiting the moutains again soon. Summer hiking, anyone?
Even though Jack ended up being a bit under the weather for our whole time in Switzerland, he did make it out to the slopes for a bit of sledding fun with his cousin Olivia. Our sledding adventure was definitely successful and we really feel that its due to this great seat attachment we found for the sled. The kids were much more confident and really had tons of fun...we just had to pay extra special attention not to let go while they were attached!

Also on the ski slope were Jack and Olivia's older cousins, Amelie, Charles and Thibault. It is really impressive to see just how quickly kids can pick up things like skiing when started at a young age...they have no fear! It's really crazy to watch them ski, especially now being a mother and picturing Jack with them in just a mere couple years. Eek.

As always, we really had a fantastic time in Switzerland and it was so nice that Jack was a bit older so that he could start enjoying all of the things we really love about the Alps...hot chocolate and crepes, anyone? (...to name a few...)
